Radio Tower

from Who Becomes the Canary? by M.G. Clark

lyrics

On every hour
There's a radio tower
Pushing signals way up
Through the stratosphere
But no one can hear them
The voices just turn into dust.

Miners used to dream of a place so serene
They'd save up and move there someday
The Radio voices spoke of an oasis
Until the wind came and took it all away.

The village ceased to function
As weeds covered the junction
And feral dogs took over the homes
Wolves filled the stables
Ivy choked the cables
That flung to the shafts down below.

Never again will the radio send
The waves, they just bend
Never again will the radio send
The waves, they just bend
Never again will the radio send
It's come to an end.
